Naomi Wray

Executive Director | Entrepreneur | Philanthropist

Naomi Wray, an inspiring force in philanthropy and entrepreneurship, exemplifies resilience and purpose. Raised in the underserved Englewood community on Chicago’s south side, she was determined to impact history by confronting social and economic disparities firsthand. The daughter of Panamanian immigrants, Naomi was inspired by her older sisters, who modeled the values she holds today. Following their example, she earned a Bachelor’s in Early Childhood Education, a Master’s in Curriculum Learning and Strategy, and additional credentials, reinforcing her dedication to children’s education and development.

Philanthropy and Community Service

Naomi’s commitment to community service led her to found *Naomi’s Nest* in 2017, a nonprofit organization dedicated to uplifting at-risk youth and young adults. Through mentorship, life coaching, and faith-based principles, Naomi ensures these individuals have the resources they need to thrive. She furthered her impact with *Legacy Youth Ministry*, offering programs in dance, music, public speaking, and international missions, encouraging holistic growth and self-expression among youth.

In response to women experiencing hair loss due to illnesses like cancer and alopecia, Naomi launched *Premiere Hair*. This venture provides custom hair units designed to restore self-esteem and confidence, helping women in the Chicagoland area feel their best during challenging times.

Community Partnerships and Outreach

Alongside her sister Shanida, Naomi serves their community through *Activate Church International*. Their recent partnership with Amazon allows them to provide essentials to families in need, supporting over 5,000 families with products ranging from toys to household items. Naomi's outreach initiatives underscore her dedication to supporting families and children in tangible, meaningful ways.

International Humanitarian Work

Naomi’s international efforts are deeply impactful. In 2019, after a devastating volcanic eruption in Guatemala, she personally assisted in relief efforts, providing aid to over 400 children. She even wrote and recorded two songs, “I Trust You Lord” and “Your Name,” to raise funds for disaster relief, with proceeds directed to rebuilding homes and providing essentials for affected communities.

Professional Leadership

As the Executive Director of *Shining Star Youth & Community Center*, Naomi oversees four sites that provide educational services to over 430 children and employ 110 staff members. Under her leadership, Shining Star has achieved Gold Circle of Quality Status, making it one of the nation's leading childcare organizations, known for its commitment to quality and support for low-income families.

Personal Life

Naomi resides in Orland Park, IL, and when she’s not immersed in outreach or business endeavors, she enjoys traveling, cooking, and spending quality time with her family and friends. Her life’s motto, “Service is the rent you pay for life on earth,” perfectly captures her dedication to making a difference.
